Did you ever hear the tale of Fred
A red and white spotted tomcat?
Let me introduce you to my friend
The bravest critter in all Catland
He strolls the house just like a dog
No stranger is allowed to walk
Protects his mistress with all might
And sings for her all through the night
Are you a mouse, rabbit, bird or rat
Then keep your distance, specially when fat
His teeth ivory white, claws curved and sharp
Dressed in a smooth but hairy garb
Stalking the house on socks utter soft
Big eyes non blinking, tail aloft
What's that, a prey, stay perfectly still
Then attack a fly near the window sill
Lazily stretching in a sunlit spot
Rolls to his back if it gets too hot
Chasing your own tail is a funny game
A cat, both wild and yet cuddly tame
No shoelace is safe for this feline puss
But in one situation Fred's a wuss!
Daylight scares my otherwise brave pall
Only inside my house he's feeling well
Every evening he sits by the door
and wants to hunt for doves and more
Yet light and sun chase him away
No roaming the neighbourhood during the day
Please help - dear friends - my lovely Fred
That is no life for a proud savage cat
Could sunglasses perhaps solve it all?
Or a cute female feline's call?
